KONTAN.CO.ID – JAKARTA. Minister of Investment/Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) Bahlil Lahadalia confirmed that the Sultan Hotel’s business license had been revoked.
He conveyed this when met after a press conference at the Ministry of Investment Office, Jakarta, Monday (18/3/2024).
“We have revoked the permit,” said Bahlil.
However, the Sultan Hotel which is located in the Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) area is still operating.

“What do you think? If there is no business permit but the business is running, is it legal or illegal? Yes, you answer for yourself,” he continued.
Bahlil is also optimistic that the land where the Sultan Hotel stands will return to the state.
“Never mind hotels, state goods controlled by people who do not comply with the law will return to the state,” stressed Bahlil.
He was also confident when asked about the lawsuit filed against him by the company owned by Pontjo Sutowo as the manager of the Sultan Hotel, PT Indobuildco at the Jakarta State Administrative Court (PTUN).
“Oh, I’m not just being sued by the Sultan Hotel, I’m being sued by many. Yes, we’ll face it, we’ll follow the law of the state,” answered Bahlil.
For your information, this conflict started after the expiration of Building Use Rights (HGB) Number 26/Gelora and HGB Number 27/Gelora which were held by Indobuildco as the legal basis for controlling the Sultan Hotel area in early 2023.
Land management is then authorized by the Ministry of State Secretariat in accordance with HPL 1/Gelora 1989 issued by the Ministry of ATR/BPN.

However, Indobuildco believes that they hold legal rights because they have applied for an extension of the HGB, which up to now has not received a statement of rejection or is still being reviewed by BPN.
Then, a series of land clearing efforts were carried out by PPKGBK, such as installing banners, portals, and even concrete walls.
This then became the reason Indobuildco filed a series of lawsuits.
