TRIBUNJATENG.COM, SEMARANG — Central Java hotel industry players are preparing to welcome a surge in guests during the momentum of Ramadan 2024. This surge is mainly directed at food and beverage (FnB) services, where usually some people will break their fast in hotels or restaurants.
“Ramadan will definitely indulge in Bukber (breaking the fast together), both for individuals and institutions. Bukber in hotels has now become a trend, especially in Semarang, Solo and Purwokerto. These three cities have already had a trend of breaking the fast in hotels,” said the Deputy Chairman. Central Java PHRI Bambang Mintosih was contacted by the Central Java Tribune, Tuesday (5/3/2024).
Benk, as he is known, explained that almost all hotels are now ready with bukber packages which will be presented during the fasting month.
He said that the packages presented were in accordance with the creativity of each hotel.
According to him, the prices of the Bukber packages offered vary. From the data he received from members, it was stated that the price for the bukber package offered was in the range of IDR 85 thousand to IDR 300 thousand per person.
“Incidentally, all (members) created a Bukber program (breaking the fast together), because during Ramadan the mainstay is Bukber. I’m sure (hotels and restaurants) will all be busy, because this has become a trend (every Ramadan),” he explained.
On the other hand, Benk said that amidst the large number of hotels offering iftar packages, it is a challenge for hotels to package packages that are attractive to consumers.
He said that each hotel’s FnB must have its own advantages.
Apart from the taste and appearance of the menu served, according to him, the service and readiness of hotel facilities to welcome guests also need to be considered.
“For example, the ablution area is currently still an obstacle because it is minimal. Because sunset time is only a short time, this should be properly planned for this ablution area so that guests don’t have to queue for a long time,” he explained.
Meanwhile, regarding hotel occupancy ahead of Ramadan, Benk said it was in the range of 60 percent.
According to him, hotel occupancy will experience an upward trend in the two days leading up to Ramadan.
“Current occupancy is still around 60 percent. One day before Ramadan, it will usually be full. On the second day of Ramadan, the occupancy is 80 percent. This increasing trend usually occurs in line with the tradition of cleaning up ahead of Ramadan. People from outside the city come to hang out, some stay in hotels ,” he added. (idy)
