Jakarta –
India has a number of tourist attractions. Starting from culture, history, to culinary. However, according to Indonesian travelers, this place is not for beginners.
Indonesian female traveler Indah Lorian has been exploring India for 47 days. Interestingly, he traveled alone, aka solo travel. However, from his experience he concluded that India was not suitable for solo travelers, especially women.
Indah often shares her activities in India via her Instagram @lorianbackpacker. He also often experiences unique events that are sometimes pleasant, sometimes surprising. Like skiing in Khasmir, enjoying unusual culinary delights, seeing an armpit shaving service, seeing a rat temple, and being harassed by local residents.

But not only unpleasant incidents, he also often shares the friendliness of the Indian people he meets. For example, he was invited to eat with local residents he had just met, or traveled with other travelers in India.
Initially, Indah wanted to share tips and tricks for traveling solo to India. However, he came to the conclusion that India is not suitable for beginner travelers and to explore alone. In his video posts, he is also often reminded by netizens to go home immediately, instead of spending a long time there.
“Initially, I was traveling solo to India, wanting to create tips and tricks content so that you would dare to come here alone. After 47 days in India, it turns out that I don’t recommend that you go to India alone. India is not for beginners,” he wrote in a video uploaded on Monday (4 /3/2024).
Under observation detikTravel, Tuesday (5/3/2024), the video went viral and has been played 12.8 million times. The post also links just a few moments from an incident of theft and rape of a pair of travelers in India.
In the caption of his post, he explained that this statement was based on his experience. He does not recommend choosing India as your first destination abroad.
“Don’t make India the first country for you to start a solo trip! Some of you said you want to go to India, whether it’s to travel, meet your online boyfriend or want to experience adventure in this country,” he wrote.
He suggested that Indonesia’s neighboring countries such as Singapore and Thailand be destinations. Maybe it’s because the distance is close and both countries are used to dealing with tourists.
Then, why was Indah able to last more than a month traveling solo here? He said this was because he was used to traveling alone and was used to facing unusual and even threatening things.
“Why can I survive? Apart from that, I have traveled alone to several other countries, such as Palak Thug Cambodia, to Wuhan China with all its cleanliness and many more,” he said.
“I also have pretty well-honed social skills, I went alone to India but I met other travelers who I trusted and became travel buddies. Several times I wanted to give up and go home but I’ve been here for 47 days and I don’t recommend you solo female travelers to really do what I do!,” he exclaimed.
He is also worried about the rape and robbery case that befell a pair of travelers from Spain.
“There are many cases of rape that have occurred, including this week, to other foreign tourists, so don’t make India the first country, there are many things you have to face to survive,” he concluded.
