Based on data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) released on February 1 2024, Australia is in 3rd place as the country contributing the most foreign tourists to Indonesia in December 2023.
The number of tourists from Australia was recorded at 135,900 people. This figure is up 11.87 percent compared to the same period in 2022.
To maintain this momentum, Sandiaga himself has planned a visit to Australia to further popularize other tourist destinations besides Bali.
“I am planning a visit to Australia to ensure this momentum will continue, because geographically Australia is very close. The destinations we are developing besides Bali, such as Lombok and Labuan Bajo, are also very close to Australia,” he added.

Reporting from news.com.au, Smart Traveler said Indonesia will hold a “high risk” election next week.
The government advisory body predicts that Indonesia will be filled with massive “demonstrations and political protests” ahead of voting day which falls on Wednesday, February 14 2024.
“It is estimated that there will be traffic jams and limited access to various locations if there are protests. Avoid protest and demonstration locations, and monitor information from local media to find out the latest developments,” said Smart Traveler, as quoted on Thursday (8/2/2024 ).
