Minister Bahlil: Sultan Hotel Land Will Become State Owned

Report from Tribunnews.com journalist, Nitis Hawaroh

TRIBUNNEWS.COM, JAKARTA – Minister of Investment/Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) Bahlil Lahadalia stated that the Sultan Hotel land will become state property.

Bahlil said that the government had revoked the business permit for the hotel owned by the Pontjo Sutowo family.

“Never mind hotels, state goods controlled by people who do not comply with the law will return to the state,” Bahlil told reporters at the Ministry of Investment Office, quoted on Tuesday (19/3/2024).

“We will revoke the permit,” Bahlil added.

Apart from that, Bahlil admitted that he was confident that he would win the lawsuit filed by the company owned by Pontjo Sutowo as the manager of the Sultan Hotel or PT Indobuildco at the Jakarta State Administrative Court (PTUN).

“Oh, I wasn’t just sued by the Sultan Hotel, I was sued by many. Yes, we are facing the rule of law, so we will follow it,” he explained.

Previously, this conflict started when Building Use Rights (HGB) Number 26/Gelora and HGB Number 27/Gelora belonging to Indobuildco expired in early 2023.

Then, land management is then authorized by the Ministry of State Secretariat in accordance with HPL 1/Gelora of 1989 issued by the Ministry of ATR/BPN.

However, Indobuildco believes that they hold legal rights because they have applied for an extension of the HGB, which up to now has not received a statement of rejection or is still being reviewed by BPN.
